Hey all, here is the pattern for this adorable cabley-y water bottle cozy I showed you yesterday. It can easily be suited to any size water bottle, just alter the number of rounds of half double crochets you use. Enjoy 🙂
Water Bottle Cable Cozy
*note this pattern is slightly reworked from the “Cabled Mitts” pattern in the Nov/Dec 2010 Crochet Today magazine
Materials: G Hook, ~3 oz (depending on the size of cozy you want) of yarn (I used pink Caron), water bottle for size
Stitches: sl st, sc, hdc, tr, dtr (*double treble crochet: yo 3 times, insert hook into stitch, yo and draw up a loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops] 4 times)
Here we go: Ch 36
Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc in each st across (35 sc)
Round 2: (RS) Ch 2, turn. Working in back loops only, hdc in each st across.
Round 3-10: Repeat round 2 (this should wrap almost halfway around the bottle, adjust your rounds to the appropriate size. You should end up so your next round is on the right side.
Round 12-13: Ch 1, turn. Working in both loops, sc in each st across.
Round 14: (RS) Ch 4, turn (Counts as a tr here only). Working in both loops, sk first st, tr in next st (sk next 3, dtr in next st, working behind dtr, tr in last 3 skipped sts) 8 times, tr in last. (DTR should diagonally cross in front of the TRs on the right side, see picture).
Round 15: Ch 4, turn. Working in both loops, sk first 2 sts, dtr in next st, working in front of dtr, tr in last 2 skipped sts. (Skip next 3, dtr in next st, working in front of dtr, tr in last 3 skipped sts) 7 times, tr in last 2 sts. (DTR should diagonally cross behind the trs since this round is the wrong side of the work).
Round 16-17: Repeats rounds 12-13.
Round 18-end: Repeat round 2 until work wraps snuggly around bottle.
Seaming: turn work so right side is facing together, line up edges and slip stitch down to fasten together. Sew in ends and block lightly if desired.
