Goodies!

Happy BC Day everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful long weekend, I sure am!

I wanted to share the goodies I have received from swaps and such. First up are my music squares from the Granny Square Swap. They hail from a wonderful lady in Ohio. A country square and a square representing a song by Pink. Aren’t they lovely?

Next up are my Crochetville KISS Granny Squares. My swapner was Linda from Australia. I love international swapners! Aren’t the squares gorgeous? I love the colours and the stitches, so pretty, thanks Linda!

Last of my received goodies are my July Squares. The theme was Olympics, and look what I received from  California! One is a soccer square, very nice, and the second is a water themed square. She was thinking of creating some diving or swimming related, but after the IOC attacked Ravelry about their Ravlympics she decided to create a water themed square based on their behaviour. In one word, juvenile. So clever! The yarn is SO soft, and I love the rubber ducky! She also sent me some birthday goodies. A keychain, a cutting mat, a pencil sharpener and a delicious skein of purple yarn. Thanks Tsubunny!!!

My last share today are a couple of goodies I picked up at a flea market in Grand Forks, BC. I think the total for these 3 items was $1.50. Awesome 🙂 There was a bunch of pattern books (like 2 baskets) that I went through. My swapner, Bonnie, is an avid knitter, and I decided to pick her up a couple of sweater pattern booklets. They are definitely vintage. I hope she likes them! The other goodies are a couple new crochet hooks for myself. One is a wood handled H hook, and the green one is an I hook. I am super excited to give these a try!

There are my goodies, I hope you enjoyed seeing them!

FO Friday Number 38

Greetings! As promised, I am here to share some FOs that have been completed for a while.

First up, the squares I made for July’s Olympic themed Granny Square Swap. I had a bit of trouble deciding what to make, until I finally watched the Men’s Wimbledon Final (I know, old!) and decided to make a tennis inspired square, completely freehand. The net sits up in 3D 🙂 Do you like?

The second square has nothing to do with Olympics, but I LOVE the pattern. It is called Modern Mitered Granny Square from Sue Rivers, and it is such a beauty! I will definitely be making more of these for sure. I used some scrap yarn and a G hook (I think). I love the brightness of it, and my swapner in Oklahoma really liked both!

My last FO for today is my handmade item for my Afghan Swap. I decided to make a cotton bag for my swapner in Ottawa. The pattern is No Assembly Required Market Bag by Barbara J. Stuart. I used Lionbran Cotton Ease in Terracotta, about a skein and a half and am H hook. I strayed a bit from the pattern (more because I am terrible at following patterns sometimes) but I think it turned out good, it’s a good size. I plan on putting all of my other items in the bag to ship, it’s like free wrapping. It’s not the best picture, sorry. I am planning on sending out the package soon, I’ll have photos of all the goodies to share 🙂

So there are my FOs for the week, check out the others here and have a great long weekend, XO!

FO Friday Number 37

Hello Summer!!! The sun is finally out and I am baking in its glory! I spent the last 2 days outside and will continue to do so until the sun goes away 🙂

Crochetville once again offered the KISS Granny Square Swap this year, so of course I jumped in right away. My swapner is a lovely lady from Australia, who requested a 12 inch red square for her granddaughter’s babyghan. I asked her if I could use other colours in the square and she said yes. This turned out to be helpful as I had a little red in my stash but certainly not enough to make a 12 inch square.

Tadah! The pattern is the Crown Jewels square from Melinda Miller. I made it in one night and I love it! I love the popcorn, I love the shell lace, so pretty! I did have some gauge issues, as it called for an H hook, but once I finished the final round I was only at 8 inches. I decided to add another round of the shells and border and it finally came out to 12 inches! I am also so glad I was able to incorporate a different colour as I definitely ran out of red. Still, it’s quite pretty no?

What’s next? Why, my July Swap Squares of course, the theme is awesome this month! And head on over to Tami’s to see the other FOs this week, XO!

IS THE CRAZY OVER YET?

Today was my last day at school, and I was a little teary-eyed saying goodbye to all the great staff *sniff

I finally get to share my June squares. This month’s theme is Music, and I knew exactly what I wanted to create.

I love country music. Especially the boot scootin’ type. I went searching for a cowboy boot motif and stumbled upon this one from Cecinatrix. I modified it to be all brown, and I used some leftover brown RR Super Saver and an E hook. I really love the result!

The other square I made is a Diagonal Box Stitch Square in black, and I added some cute appliques. A heart, the pattern from Crochet-Atelier, and a music note from Crochet Spot. Basically, I love music. I really hope my swapner, Cella, in California likes them!

Ok, so, June Squares done, itching to get going on the July Squares, I signed up to do another square swap for July, AND my summer vacation has FINALLY started! Let’s do this! Check out the other FOs here, have a great Canada Day Long Weekend, XO!

Report Cards, check. Car fixed, check. Life back in order… almost. Received 12 inch square from Sharon in California, CHECK!

It is called Butterfly Garden from Chris Simon. The yarn is Vickie Howell for Caron Sheepish in Teal. It is DELICIOUS! So squishy and lovely. I love it, thanks Sharon!

I still need to finish my June squares for the Granny Square Swap… Now that I am done with Report Cards I can get those off quick quick like a cat. Stay tuned tomorrow for those, XO!

FO Friday, Number 35

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a good week, I am still on the mend from my cold, but am back at work, and still kickin!

Today I wanted to share a couple FOs. I decided to participate in a 12 inch square swap to add to my friendship-ghan. I was partnered with a friendly lady from California. She requested oranges and yellows for her great-granddaughter, how could I not oblige? Here are the 2 squares I came up with.

First up, the orange square. I decided to  try the pattern I selected for my Afghan Swap. It’s the Pineapple Afghan by Mary Conley. Big surprise huh? I love me some pineapple plumes. I actually really like this pattern. I used a an H hook and some leftover orange yarn. I didn’t even make it thru the whole pattern before it got too large. It’s simple but looks really good.

Next up, the yellow square. I decided to try something different. I recalled that I had used a pattern for a different square and really liked it, so I tracked down the lady (Aurora Suominen) and grabbed another of her 12 inch patterns. This one is called Snowfall 12″ Square. I used an H hook again and some yellow and grey scraps I had laying around. I really like this square, I love the snowflake in the center and the FPDC texture surrounding it. It’s quite lovely. I would probably go up a hook size next time and I really struggled to get this to 12 inches. But it’s cute none-the-less. I really hope my swapner likes them!

So there are my FOs for the week, check out the others here, have a great weekend!

It feels like…

Well, I THOUGHT I had received my April Square last week, remember the cool bluey texturey one? Well it turns out that was my May Square (rolling waves, under the sea, of course!)  and the squares I received yesterday were my April Squares. So I am all caught up now, *phew!

Here is the picture of my April Squares. Aren’t they awesome? Both have some very cool texture going on. The reddish one is a square using front and back post stitches (goodies!) and the purple one is a melange of stitches, both knitting and crocheting. Isn’t that awesome?! I think so, a nice addition to my collection 🙂 The squares hail from a lovely lady in Rolla, Missouri. Thanks MrsLindaK!

She also sent a little prezzie for my snuggle buddy, Cally. Here she is playing with it. So cute! 😀

There is my little post for the day, I am off to drive my mom to the airport , TTYS!

Greetings and salutations!

Today’s FO is another afghan square (of course, that’s all I have been doing lately). Remember the theme for this month? Under the sea! Last week I shared the wavy square I made, thanks for your wonderful comments! This week’s square is a little fishier than last weeks 😉

The square is called the 6 Inch Fish Block from Donna Kay Lacey. It’s so cute! The pattern is great. If you need a quick but cute afghan square I recommend this one! I used an H hook and some leftover yarn from Shannon’s Kindle Kozy. I really hope my swapner likes it!

That’s my FO for this week, check out the others here, XO!

TGIF! I am so looking forward to a nice looooooong weekend to recharge my batteries. Which will of course include some crochet. I have received my May Square Swapner, and I am ready to get crackin!

This month’s theme is “Under the Sea”, so I found this wavy pattern and whipped it up last week. It is the Wavy Dishcloth by Amber Moberly. I love the slight texture and the relaxing watery movement. I used a G hook and some scap blue and white yarn. I think it turned out ok, except for that minor hiccup midway through on the edge. That always happens when I chain more than 1 on a turn… something to work on I suppose… do you like?

Now that I have made a square representing the sea, I am going to make one representing what’s down there 🙂 Stay tuned for that!

That’s my FO for the week, check out the others here, XO.

Let the Sun Shine!

Greetings! Hope you’ve been having a good week, I sure have!

Today I wanted to share with you the dishcloth I received from my swapner. It’s a Michigan Sunflower. Isn’t it lovely? I love the texture of it! Thanks so much to Denise, aka MichiganIrish for all her efforts of my dishcloth, it’s been such a pleasure swapping with her!

Come back tomorrow and check out my FO, XO!
