Squee! Sunday, Siete

16 days until Hawaii!! The countdown has officially begun!

I received a couple of goodies this week. First up is my November Scarf or Fingerless Swap. Aren’t they lovely? I love receving knit stuff cuz it’s something I’ll never be able to do for myself. These are so wonderful and fit just right! Thanks to the lovely Helen in Guatamala for her hard work!

Next up is my snowman from the Snowman Swap. Isn’t he PRECIOUS?! He hails from Tennesee from the wonderful Angela. I absolutely LOVE his buttons. He definitely put a smile on my face. He will be going to school with me tomorrow to sit on  my desk and remind me of the season. Maybe I should put a lei around his neck 😛

There’s my Squee! for this week, check out the others here, XO!

FO Friday, Number 20

Well, my hooks have been quiet since the weekend. I’ve been quite occupied with work this week. It’s going well, but it’s exhausting. I have 2 finished projects to share with you today.

First up are the cabled mitts! They are finished, yahoo! The pattern is Cabled Wrist Warmer by Julie Reeves. I used RH Soft in grey and an H hook. The pattern is quite and simple but soooo pretty! I also decided to whip up matching ear warmers, I modified the pattern to suit my needs. I love how it came out! Hopefully my swapner agrees!

Next up is this little cutester! I haven’t named him yet, any suggestions? The pattern is from the Book Amigurumi World by Ana Rimoli. I used scrap yarn and a G hook for him. I have to say, of all the amigurmi I have made, he might be my favourite!! I got to try my hand at embroidery (for the beak), I really like the way it turned out. Also, his arm/wings are so flappy and cute! He will be going off with the scarf to Reno. Bon voyage!

So there’s my FOF for this week, I am off to Whistler for our annual Halloween extravaganza but I have a couple Squee! Sundays to share, so check back then, XO!

WIP Wednesday XVIII

*sits down, takes a deep breath

Well, I survived the last few days. My knees and feet are killing me, and I’m worried about where to go this year with my students, but other than that I had a great few days. Yahoo! I haven’t had much time for crocheting, obviously, but I knew that was going to happen to I tried to get ahead of myself, which I am!

These fingerless mitts are almost done, I need to add another row of single crochet around the side and then sew together. I’m using Red Heart Soft in grey and a G hook, the pattern is Cable Wrist. They are really good looking in my opinion.

I also still have to sew the wings onto the owl, maybe find a couple more things for the scarf swap and that package will go out next week.

Hopefully I can find some balance between work and play. There’s my WIP Thursday for this week, check out the others here. I’ll be back tomorrow for FO Friday!

Squee! Sunday, Tres

First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving all you great Canadians. Hope your gobbling some yummy turkey this weekend (heh heh).

I wanted to share with you a package I received this week. You know that I sent the pink fingerless mits and Nico the Ninja of, and this is what I received in return. The softest and very delicate green fingerless mitts, a really pretty card, hand lotion and purple nail polish.

This package makes me happy because it restores my faith in people. This swap was almost doomed until someone else’s partner went MIA and we decided to swap with each other. Win for us!

Hope you’re having a great weekend, I am slowly recharging my batteries, looking forward to some turkey tomorrow 🙂

WIP Wednesday XI

Well, after a disappointing ABCs on Monday I am happy to rebound with WIPW. I have 3 projects to share with you, yahoo!

Square CentreFirst up is the beginning of the August granny squares. Last week I picked a pattern and started and then got incredibly side-tracked by other things. More to come with this one.

Next is an amigurumi for the “Surprise your partner” swap. I found this pattern and thought, cute, simple, done. It has been resting because I need to buy some fiber-fill and decide on the face.

Last, and most closely complete, are these fingerless gloves for the same swap. I love the bright pink yarn, the pattern is easy (link on FOF) and I found these cute blue buttons to cap it all off. All I have left to do it attach the buttons and cinch the wrist a bit.

I am also currently working on the C’Ville Scrap Yarn Swap, and am pretty much done, I have a bit more yarn to put together. But, if you can believe it, I have not crocheted ANYTHING for this swap… it’s starting to alarm me a bit… I was going to make a mug hug, then I bought a mug and it doesn’t really need a hug, maybe I’ll make one anyways for other mugs? I also plan on making a cute thread bookmark. But that’s all I got? Eeeeck!

There are my WIPs this week, busy busy! Head on over to Tami’s Amis for the multitude of others, XO.

FO Friday, Number 3

Happy Friday!

My FO today is another pair of knuckle warmers for a coworker of mine. I  promised them for her like a month ago, so I whipped them up in like 2 hours Wednesday night so I’d have something to share with you today.

The funny thing is that I had to switch back to worsted weight yarn after working with thread for so many weeks, it felt so foreign and yucky! Lol, I got through it, and these are the result:

Aren’t they great?! And they work really well. Except I thought the yarn I used for hers was the same as mine, but hers ended up being so much denser and thicker than mine… oh well she says she likes them so it’s out of my hands.

I’m also working on the 4 angel squares, stay tuned for those next week. And check out the other FOs here! Have a great weekend!

Knuckle Up

Greetings!

As promised I am going to share a project with  you, one that I have been meaning to whip up for a while now. I have this part-time job which requires me to sit in the cold, doing fast-paced data entry and it can get pretty chilly on my digits. I have found that I don’t like my thumbs being covered, it hinders my speed and control. Well, I was perusing Ravelry and came across this little dandy of a pattern from Nichole Verville. They work perfectly!

Thanks to my sister for modeling them for me. This pattern is super simple and quick to make. It took me 1 evening with a G hook and some scrap Bernat Satin yarn. I am considering adding some buttons or something to personalize them a bit more, not sure yet, any ideas?
